"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

And it'd be quite sad to see an aspiring artist get banned, so please remove all art that is not yours or art that you have colored over/traced.
Just because someone else has something against the rules in there gallery, doesn't mena it's ok for you. It's hard for D/A to keep up with all the rule breakers, so you'd be helpin gout d/a (and your self) if you took down all your recolors and traces. :]
